Saturday, February 11, 2011 Centenial Celebration & Painting of the Hall
The Village Hall in Ozona is one of the oldest structures in Pinellas County, and was built by community volunteers in 1900. The Hall has been used for many different community purposes over the years. In recognition of this centennial year where Pinellas County is now 100 years old, the Ozona community, in one day, plans to paint the outside of the Village Hall. Anyone in the community that can hold a paintbrush is invited to participate. Just come dressed in your painting clothes. If anyone would like to dress in the historic attire of 1900 they are also welcome to do that. Our County Commissioners and other dignitaries have agreed to participate, sothis is a chance to make contact with people while you are doing a worthwhile event.
The painting will begin at 9 o'clock on the morning of Saturday, February 11 with coffee and doughnuts to help everyone to a good start. At noon time there will be a cookout with hotdogs and similar offerings. The event will run until 4 o'clock when work is scheduled to be completed. The Ozona Village Improvement Society (OVIS) is sponsoring the event and is providing all the materials needed. However, if you have a favorite paintbrush, please bring it. The Village Hall is located on Bay Street, several buildings west of Orange St., at 341 Bay St.
So come and join the other members of the community, and participate in this centennial event and relive some history.
